Darcy Christianson is an experienced educator and instructional specialist with over 30 years of expertise in teaching English and English as a Second Language (ESL). She holds two master’s degrees: one in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and another in Adult Learning and Distance Education. Her career has been defined by a strong integration of language education and technology, a passion that began in the early days of Web 1.0, when digital learning tools were just emerging. Long before remote work became commonplace, she was already teaching online and exploring how technology can enhance learning, engagement, and human connection.
Darcy has taught, tutored, coached, mentored, and assessed learners from kindergarten through adulthood across traditional, hybrid, and fully online environments in both U.S. and international settings. She specializes in designing customized curricula, developing engaging student-centered lessons, and supporting diverse learners. She also brings extensive experience in assessing professional English proficiency through exams such as the GRE, TOEFL, TOEIC, and iTEP, and has contributed to the field through presentations and publications focused on the intersection of technology and language learning.
Her initiative extends to active global volunteerism and community engagement. She has volunteered at RightsCon 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan, and served as an English instructor and program consultant during the inaugural year of the Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot Program, Mexico. She has also supported learners internationally as a virtual writing and speaking tutor with the Vahani English Scholarship Program, India, and as a conversational English instructor for the Language for Ukraine program through the Educational Equality Institute.
She is currently working with Cambodia Corps Inc as an English Program and Curriculum Director and instructor, continuing her commitment to expanding access to authentic, humane language education worldwide.
