Montagnard Community

The Montagnard community is made up of diverse Indigenous peoples whose histories and cultures are rooted in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and currently located in northeast Cambodia (green area on the map).

The name Montagnard, meaning "mountain people" in French, is a broad term that encompasses many distinct peoples, including the Jarai, Ede, Bahnar, Koho, Mnong, Stieng, and others. Each has its own language, traditions, history, and identity.

Today, Montagnard communities can be found across the world, including in the United States and Cambodia.

Their story is one of culture, courage, migration, resilience, and connection.
